Wise Old Redneck Guru on Quality Deer Management
For a lot of deer feeder companies it is easy to sell a deer feeder to an individual then forget about the individual. At Wilderness Calls we not only have the best gravity deer feeder on the market, but we care about how it is working. Through research, trial and error we found that the Double "D" gravity deer feeders was the best way to raise the quality of the whitetail deer on Wilderness Calls. When the Wise Old Redneck Guru and Wilderness Calls decided to put this great invention on the market, it was decided to take this a step further. The fact that we believe in the Double "D" gravity deer feeder and have seen the results, we are convinced that we need to go above and beyond just selling a deer feeder. Not only do we deliver over 90% of the Double "D" gravity deer feeders personally, we have spent time in the field speaking with individuals that believe in the concept of quality deer management gathering information and ideas.
In July of 2011 Mr. Curles, owner of the Curles ranch in Avon Park, Florida, purchased a Big Buck gravity deer feeder. Mr. Curles was skeptical of the concept of a trough feeder when he met the Redneck Guru, but after talking together he was convinced it was not just another gravity deer feeder and would only feed deer; Mr. Curles purchased the Big Buck gravity deer feeder. Eight weeks later Mr. Curles purchased three more Double "D" Big Buck gravity deer feeders, ten weeks later another two feeders were purchased. On two occasions the Wise Old Redneck Guru himself delivered the gravity deer feeders to Mr. Curles on his ranch. Several hours were spent discussing the proper way to use the deer feeder and how it would help the quality of whitetail deer on his ranch. The high protein feed used by Mr. Curles was being consumed by the deer and he has now seen the results this hunting season with a stronger rut. It is not rocket science, the healthier the doe the more active she will be during the rut. The highlight of the visit was when we were setting up the first and second feeders on Mr. Curles ranch. Mr. Curles was replacing spout gravity deer feeders with our Double "D" gravity deer feeders. This warmed the heart of the Wise Old Redneck Guru, to see his gravity deer feeders were replacing the old fashioned spout deer feeders.
The most recent individual that requested assistance from the Wise Old Redneck Guru was Mr. Carl. Mr. Carl purchased two of the Double "D" 150 pound capacity gravity deer feeders, in September 2011. He then placed his trail cameras on the feeders and observed that several bucks were visiting the feeders. He had just entered into a 400 acre lease just east of Wilderness Calls in west central Ga., and was attempting to improve the quality of whitetail deer on the property. Mr. Carl visited the Wise Old Redneck Guru at Wilderness Calls in December of 2011 and observed the larger extended Big Buck gravity deer feeder in action. We spent several hours discussing the process of improving the size and quality of deer by the use of high protein feed. We then traveled to his lease and observed the pictures obtained from the trail cameras. It was obvious from the size of the bucks' antlers that they were missing much needed protein and minerals. Mr. Carl decided to upgrade his feeders to the extended Big Buck gravity deer feeders and add two more. On January 2, 2012 the Guru and staff delivered and set up the four feeders. This will give the whitetail deer on Mr. Carl's lease the proper amount of protein and minerals needed to grow healthier deer. We are excited and expect to see proof of this development on future photos from the trail cameras.
Each year we hunters spend thousands of dollars in the pursuit of the sport we love. Even though feeding deer is not a new concept, it has taken on a new approach by a lot of hunters. The concept of feeding deer to make the herd healthy is new to a lot of individuals. No one loves the sport of hunting more than the Wise Old Redneck Guru and the guides of Wilderness Calls, but we spend as much time and effort in improving the quality of our whitetail deer as we do hunting them. The Redneck Guru understands that he has taken on a huge task, but he is always on call to assist individuals that have the same goal of quality deer management as Wilderness Calls has.
In south Ga., the legislature passed a supplementary feed law, in 2011. This law gave the hunters of south Ga., the right to hunt deer over supplementary feed. A lot of hunters will use this law primarily to hunt deer, but it has opened up a new door for the hunters that are serious about raising quality whitetail deer on their property. These individuals will benefit more than the hunters that just rely on the law to hunt deer. It is the goal of Wilderness Calls to help make the Legislators of Ga. proud that they passed a law which we feel is a great piece of legislation!
