Meet Captain Samuel Jr. Professional Fisherman, Saltwater Fishing Florida. Captain Samuel Jr. was raised just a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico in a small coast town, Stienhatchee, Florida. I began fishing at the young age of 3, barely out of diapers and landed my first trout at that young age. I was fishing on what is called the flats and when I landed that first trout I was hooked on fishing from that point on. To me it seemed like a whale, but not sure how big it really was. There is nothing better then hooking into a large fish and having him fight for survival as you reel him into the boat. Through the years I have gained a lot of first hand knowledge and tricks that assist me in being a successful fisherman. I also enjoy advising other people that are interested in landing that large shark, red fish or any other type of fish, he or she is interested in catching.

Commentary on new boater safety law in Florida by Captain Samuel Jr.
Hello visitors and members of wilderness calls! It's your "Salt Water Fishing Pro" here to tell you a little bit about the new boating law regulations, in the state of Florida. As of Jan 1, 2010 anybody born on or after Jan 1, 1988 must pass a boater safety course; if you operate a vessel that has a 10 horsepower motor or more. I appreciate and applaud this new law! There are many people who think all you have to do is put the boat in the water and go. But it is not like driving a car; you don't have roads to follow or stop signs or red lights. The truth is, you don't know what's under you while your driving a boat unless you know how to navigate through the channels. If I was to ask a new boater, "What does red right return mean?" he would probably be lost. It is an international term for marking the channels. It means on the way out keep the red marker on your left and when you return keep it on your right to keep you in the channel. This is just one of the many types of helpful information new boaters will learn through the course. If you plan to operate a boat, and are new to the experience, I hope this was helpful for you to understand the necessity and value of this new law and how important the boater safety course will be.

Facts about Shark
There is no size limit on Shark, but there is a possession limit, one per person and two per boat. When the water is cold the Shark migrates to wormer waters. I prefer to start Shark fishing in the middle of April, depending on the water temperature. I like to fish for Shark in ten to twelve feet of water, preferable on a sandy bottom. I use the tide to help bate the Shark, starting by placing chum in the water on the out going tide and as the tide returns the Shark will follow the chum or bait line back in. Almost any type of cut bate will work, I normally use cut small fish, red fish heads and other fish heads that will draw the large fish. Sharks are like the scavengers of the sea so most any type of meat will draw them in.

Facts about The Red Fish
There are no closed months for the red fish. The limit is low only one of the red fish per boat. The size is 18 inches minimum to 27 inches maximum. This is truly become one of the big game fish. When the water is cold much like the Trout they prefer the deep wholes in the river or channels. Bait that is preferred, is live shrimp, live chub (small fish) and pin fish. When the water worms they migrate to a place of structure, oyster bars, rocks and on rare occasions marsh water. At this time I prefer to use gold spoon, salt water beadle spin, artificial bait, and live shrimp and pin fish. My favorite is the gold spoon.

Facts About Trout There are certain months that state and federal regulations forbid you for fishing for trout. These regulations are in place to protect the trout when they are reproducing. Different areas have different times that trout are off limits to harvesting. The northern region of Florida where I normally fish, February is the forbidden month. I would suggest you check the area you plan to fish to avoid being in violation of any state or federal laws. There are regulations on the size and amount of Trout you are able to harvest, 15 inches or longer. The measurement is from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. Then the real bummer is when you hook one 20 inches or longer, you are allowed to keep one and any others over 20 inches you have to throw them back. The limit varies from region to region also. You are allowed five trout in the northern Florida region, four in the southern region.
When the water temperature is cold they can be located in the deeper holes. I prefer to use live shrimp when fishing the deeper holes for trout. As the water temperature warms, they migrate to the shallow water, such as sand bars. A number of bait can be utilized when fishing the sand bars for trout, live shrimp, mere lure, and salt water plugs. Once the temperature is warmer the trout move to the flats (oyster bars, shallow water 6 to 8 feet deep). Bait would range from live shrimp, salt water assassin, gules cut bait and other artificial bait. I prefer the salt water assassin.

Description of Trout
Description
Trout are the great freshwater sporting fish of the world. They are members of the Salmon family and they are, like Salmon, often androgynous - that is, they will go from streams out into salt or brackish water for feed for more prevalent bait.
Trout are not a tropical fish. They prefer the cooler waters and streams and will survive even in the cold temperatures of Canada and Europe. Their primary foods in freshwater are insects and minnows. When they go forth into salt water, they will consume quantities of bait fish. A freshwater trout will generally range from two to four pounds.
Trout that have gone to salt water can range to eight pounds or twice the weight of their fresh water contemporaries. Like Salmon, they will always return to freshwater to breed. Because of their popularity as a sport fish their populations are often not self sustaining and the waters are often stocked by government fisheries, Because of their predilection for insects, the best bait is a wet or dry flies. Freshwater Trout tend to stay close to shore where they capture the insects that fall off the trees. Trout are a superb eating fish. Their flesh is white, sweet and flaky with a delicious flavor. It can be eaten sauteed, grilled, baked and is often smoked.
