2010 in review
In a year when the economy was still suffering, Wilderness Calls continued to grow. What started out as a dream was now a reality in the world of hunting, fishing, and nature. The year started with a trade show in Dalton, Ga. (in the middle of January) James and I loaded the Wilderness Calls trailer and traveled into the freezing, windy hills of north Ga. It was the first time a hunting trade show had been in Dalton. The show turned out to be the smallest trade show in size that we would attend in 2010, but not in the returns if brought to Wilderness Calls. The Rut Buster was founded at this trade show, along with the turkey mouth calls that Wilderness Calls now offers. Both have been tested with great success by the guides of Wilderness Calls. Coming soon will be two hunts on film by Little Samuel and Dell using the Rut Buster combined with the Redneck Guru's Doe-N-Heat Estrous.
In the spring as the forest of Wilderness Calls came to life, the big winner of the Wilderness Calls free drawing attended Wilderness Calls and harvested two fine hogs. At the same time the staff was working diligently improving the packaging of our products. This proved to be very profitable for the company. The spring was also a time for the Wilderness Calls staff to travel to Tampa, Florida and participate in the largest outdoor boat show in Florida. The show did not have a lot of hunting products, but this did not stop us from presenting our products. As the spring turned into summer the Wise Old Redneck Guru offered a pre order special on his Doe-N-Heat estrous, which was a huge success. The web site continued to grow in popularity.
As the days began to grow longer, the Wise Old Redneck Guru and Wilderness Calls teamed up with the Global Outfitters television show, which has proven to be very prosperous for Wilderness Calls. This has helped to put Wilderness Calls on a worldwide television show for the entire world to see. As the summer heated up so did the trade show schedule. The staff would travel to five cities in Georgia, Florida and Alabama in just over seven weeks. We had the opportunity to meet thousands of people and make new friends as well as visit with old ones. The Wise Old Redneck Guru had the opportunity to meet several individuals that just wanted to say they had met the Wise Old Redneck Guru. Now this was a treat indeed. During this time the staff was working diligently on Wilderness Calls greatest invention to this point. Yes I know even better then the great Wise Old Redneck Guru's Doe-N-Heat estrous, yes even better than that. The Double "D" and Double "D" big buck deer feeders were introduced to the hunting world in Atlanta, Ga. The overwhelming response and success even surprised the Wise Old Redneck Guru himself. The popularity of the Double "D" deer feeder are growing with leaps and bounds.
Then in October the staff loaded up the trailer and traveled to Moultrie, Ga. This was the second year that Wilderness Calls had attended the largest Agricultural in the southeast. 2009 did not prepare the staff of Wilderness Calls for what happened at the 2010 Ag. Exop. It was like we were in the middle of a pool of Paraná and anything that had our logo on it was eaten up. It was a great show for Wilderness Calls and we are looking forward to 2011. The Double "D" deer feeder was a huge success at the Ag. Expo also. As soon as the show ended the staff traveled to Wilderness Calls and guided a hog hunt. The hunt was a success for the hunters and Wilderness Calls.
In December two youths attended Wilderness Calls to experience hunting with the guides of Wilderness Calls. One of the youths harvested his first deer. No matter how many times we see this excitement in the eyes of a first time harvest, it still reminds us why we hunt and do what we do.
The list of people that have pitched in this year and helped Wilderness Calls is in the hundreds. The list includes our members, stock holders, friends and family. Wilderness Calls would like to take this time to thank each and every one of the people that have helped to make 2010 a year to remember at Wilderness Calls. If not for them we would not have been able to accomplish as much as we did in 2010.
The future for Wilderness Calls is bright and we are looking forward to a better year in 2011.
