2009, a year in review at Wilderness Calls

Wilderness Calls had a busy year in 2009; a dream had begun to take shape.  What had started one night at the campfire in Georgia was now a reality. Wilderness Calls has become a true part of the hunting and nature world.  What had started with a web site and a few products was now a growing business.  The first adventure started in Orlando, Florida where the staff of Wilderness Calls attended and participated in the International Shot Show at the Orlando Convention Center.   The Wilderness Calls booth was constructed, a replica of a small cabin, complete with mounts, chairs for socializing and a rack for the evening refreshments.  I will admit that it was a learning experience, but Wilderness Calls was officially part of the growing industry of nature, hunting and fishing.  The company was fortunate enough to make several helpful contacts at the International Shot Show, which has proven to be profitable for the company.

Then the "Wise Old Redneck Guru" became a fixture with Wilderness Calls, lending his knowledge and insight to our Web-Site.  It was not long after the International Shot Show that Wilderness Calls started developing the "Wise Old Redneck Guru's doe-n-heat estrous".  A product certified by the Redneck Guru.  As soon as the bucks in Florida and Georgia began to rut, the new estrous was placed in the field to be tested. Trail cameras were strategically placed to capture the bucks when they visited the estrous.  We do have to admit that it was more successful than even the Wise Old Redneck Guru had envisioned.  Bucks of all sizes visited the doe-n-heat estrous and before the end of the year several hundred bottles were sold and put into use.  The doe-n-heat estrous was placed in stores from Sarasota, Florida to Lumpkin, Georgia.

As the summer approached, the Wilderness Calls booth was expanded and packed into a trailer, where it traveled to Jacksonville, Florida.  Wilderness Calls would visit several cities before the fall, Jacksonville being the first.  Here the staff met people from all over North Florida and South Georgia.  As in the first trade show, more contacts were made and new products evolved from this experience.   At this trade show Wilderness Calls added game calls to it's growing sports merchandise inventory. The hunting calls that are available at Wilderness Calls now are; deer call, wild hog call, duck call, coyote call, rabbit call and turkey call.

 Now we have calls!

Then it was off to Lakeland, Florida where the staff had a very successful trade show.  The booth had been improved to include counters to display the sports merchandise.  The staff met people from all over Central, Florida and continued to grow in popularity.

In August the staff packed the Wilderness Calls trailer and traveled north on Interstate 75, to Macon, Georgia, where they met people from all over Central, Georgia.  It was a successful outing and we came away feeling better about our company and what we had accomplished.

The final show of 2009 was in Moultrie, Georgia, the Southern Ag Expo.  This may have been the final show for the year, but it was the most profitable and successful show of them all.  Wilderness Calls introduced "Jude's All Purpose Sauce" at this show and it was a huge success!  We were even featured on the t.v. The staff put on a hunting and safety demonstration, three times a day, to assist and inform the public in the areas of hunting and gun safety.  The enthusiasm was overwhelming to say the least.  Along with the "Jude's All Purpose Sauce", the "Redneck Guru Sportswear" was introduced at this show.  Now everyone can get a Mo Huntin' or Mo Fishin' T shirt!

The shows were a huge success and learning experience for Wilderness Calls, but none of this would have been possible without the support of our web-site members and stock holders.  They pitched in, rolled up their sleeves, attended the shows and went to work.  It was as if they all believed in what we were doing and willing to do whatever it took to make it successful.  I would like to introduce and thank the individuals that helped make Wilderness Calls what it is today; the staff: James, Samuel Junior, Bill and I. The members and stockholders: Liz, Mary, Jodie, Dana, Brandon, Dawn, Karen, Susan, Selina, Little Aiden, Dale, Ray, Katie, Sharon, Julian, Sherie, Haileah, Logan, Angel, and the many retail establishments that handle Wilderness Calls sports merchandise.  Trust me when I say they all have demonstrated through their diligence, faith and hard work what Wilderness Calls stands for!

The web-site in 2009 has seen many changes and we strive to improve it every day.  The popularity has doubled in size in 2009 and it is the goal of the staff to continue to improve on that.  The continuing participation of our current members, new members and stock holders will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for taking the time to visit our Web-Site and we hope you come back, join us and become part of Wilderness Calls!
